正读张承志的文章,他写道:“第二天,我的两眼看见了一个波澜壮阔的伟大场面。两万农民从陇东河西、从新疆青海奔涌汇集于此,人头攒动的海洋上尘土弥漫。无文的农民掀起了直入云霄的呼啸,为说谎的历史修订。当两万人汇成的大海在我眼前喧嚣沸腾,当我真真地看见了两万个终日躬耕荒山的背影在拥挤呼喊,当我震惊地知道自从乾隆四十六年三月二十七清朝刽子手使一腔血洒在兰州城墙以后,二百零四年之间无论腥风血雨苦寒恶暑,回回撒拉东乡各族的人民年年都要在此追悼颂念——我激动得不能自制。那染血的城墙早已荡然无存了;岂止乾隆年号,即使改朝换代也已有三次。二百零四年对于一个统治者来说,不仅是太长而且是一个恐怖的数字;而人民——我凝视着那两万背影我明白了:人民要坚持着心中沉重的感情直至彼世。”这些农民赶往的兰州赶尔麦里,为的是如期追悼亡人。
