传承与创新——历届天津相声节理论研讨文集
中华人民共和国成立后，天津相声得到长足发展，表现之一为相声名家极多。如张寿臣、常连安、郭荣起、马三立以及后来者刘文亨、高英培等数十位名家则在各区曲艺团里领衔献艺。天津不但出名演员，还出名段子。如高玉峰、谢芮芝创作的《文明词》（后改名《西江月》）、张杰尧创作的《关公战秦琼》、张寿臣创作的《夸讲究》《地理图》《巧嘴媒婆》《贼说话》……太多太多的传统段子出自天津，并都是久演不衰的段子。而且，专演相声的茶馆也很多，分布在各区。即使在“文化大革命”中，天津仍向全国奉献了王佩元、常宝霆合说的相声《挖宝》。当然，它也没有逃过在那时候所有的相声茶馆全部关闭的厄运。
