司马温公与吕申公友善，同召试知制诰，温公试而申公辞，改天章阁待制。温公以为不及，命下力逊谓：同召而独就，是公著廉逊而臣无耻，遂亦除此职。予意温公借此以辞宠耳，士大夫立身行己，各有规绳，一进一退，惟心之安，岂在苟同。范景仁与温公为异姓兄弟，心未尝不合，元出处各行其志，不失为同也，人安得议其优劣。
